Our Story
Our story began in 2006, when we first arrived in Australia with a dream of building a life together and sharing our love of food.
We started our journey in Sydney, where we built our skills, experience and knowledge of the hospitality industry. After completing a Bachelor of Cookery, we continued our journey in professional kitchens, including working as a sushi chef at Toko in Surry Hills and Hukuya in Eastwood.
Finding Our Home in Swan Hill
While we enjoyed our time in Sydney, we always dreamed of a quieter life in a rural town — a place with a peaceful lifestyle and a strong, welcoming community.
In 2010, we followed that dream and moved to Swan Hill.
We continued working in hospitality and gained more valuable experience at the Commercial Hotel. More importantly, we began to feel at home in the Swan Hill community.
It was during this time that our dream of opening our own restaurant started to become a reality
In November 2012, we opened the doors to our very first Niko Niko at 174 Campbell Street, Swan Hill.
Starting our own restaurant was a big step, but from the beginning, we wanted Niko Niko to be more than just a place to eat. We wanted it to be a place where people could enjoy good food, feel welcome and come back time and time again.
Over the years, we have been incredibly lucky to become part of the Swan Hill community and to have the support of so many wonderful local customers.
Growing With Our Community
After many happy years in Swan Hill, we were excited to take the next step in our journey.
In July 2022, we opened our second Niko Niko on High Street, Echuca.
Opening in Echuca gave us the opportunity to share our food, hospitality and passion with another wonderful regional community. We are grateful to everyone who has welcomed us and supported Niko Niko along the way.
A New Home, The Same Heart
Today, our journey continues at our new home at 189 Campbell Street, Swan Hill.
After more than 20 years in Australia and many years of being part of the local community, we feel incredibly grateful for everything Niko Niko has become.
From our beginnings in Sydney, to moving to Swan Hill, opening our first restaurant, expanding to Echuca, and now settling into our new home, our journey has always been about good food, hard work, family and community.
We are proud to have grown alongside the communities that have supported us, and we look forward to welcoming old friends, new faces and future generations through our doors.
